Dance of the Hours

Once again, I'm up to 4am drawing. And someone really needs to tell me how to scan markers so they don't look like ass!

My favorite part of Fantasia is Dance of the Hours, and Hyacinth Hippo is my favorite dancer in the scene. What's not to love? So I decided to draw her, and Ben and Upanova, as humans.

Hyacinth is the Prima Ballerina at the Disney School of Dance. Despite her size, she's incredibly graceful and can perform as well--rather better--than the tiny bints that normally grace the stage. She's devoted to her craft, but still has some issues, and refuses to audition for Swan Lake.

Ben Ali is the charming Première Danseur at the Disney School of Dance. As handsome as he is talented, Ben is the heartthrob of the school. But he has eyes only for Hyacinth, ever since he saw her napping on the stage some years ago. However, he lacks the upper-body strength to lift her, which causes problems when they dance together.

Madame Upanova is an albino exchange student from the Euro Disney School of Dance, and the leader of an all-male dance troupe. He prefers the female roles, finding male choreography to be lacking in beauty. He transferred to the main school after seeing Hyacinth dance, and is now both a rival and suitor for her. Much to Ben's chagrin, Upanova can easily lift Hyacinth, after years of dancing with only men.
